I wish I had found one of these charts when I started cooking years ago, especially after I bought my first Martha Stewart’s cookbooks – Pies & Tarts was my very first – and had to figure out cups and teaspoons into grams, and internet was not what it is today, especially in Italy.

 

In any case, you can find specific conversions & charts via google, but in the last few years I have been using an inexpensive but precise Convert! App for my iPhone.

 

Also, for liquids, there are those graduated measuring cups that show both ml and liquid oz./cups. For solids, there are inexpensive precision scales that have a button to switch between gr/kg & oz/lbs.

 

TEMPERATURE CONVERSIONS

 

275°F  =  140°C

300°F  =  150°C

325°F  =  165°C

350ºF  =  180ºC

375ºF  =  190ºC

400ºF  =  200ºC

425ºF  =  220ºC

450ºF  =  230ºC

475ºF  =  240ºC

 

VOLUME/LIQUID EQUIVALENTS

 

1 cup = 8 fl. oz = 237 ml.

3/4 cup = 6 fl. oz. = 177 ml.

2/3 cup = 5 fl. oz. = 158 ml.

1/2 cup = 4 fl. oz. = 118 ml.

1/3 cup = 3 fl. oz. = 79 ml.

1/4 cup = 2 fl. oz. = 59 ml.

1/8 cup = 1 fl. oz. = 30 ml. = 2 TBSP = 6 TSP

1/16 cup = 0.5 fl. oz. = 15 ml. = 1 TBSP = 3 TSP

Granulated Sugar – 1 cup = 7 oz. = 200 gr.

Powdered Sugar – 1 cup = 4 oz. = 115 gr.

Light Brown Sugar – 1 cup = 7.6 oz. = 217 gr.

Dark Brown Sugar – 1 cup = 8.4 oz. = 239 gr.

Chocolate Chips – 1 cup = 6.3 oz. = 180 gr.

Rolled Oats – 1 cup = 3.5 oz = 100 gr.

Almonds (whole) – 1 cup = 6.7 oz. = 191 gr.

Almonds (chopped) – 1 cup = 3 oz. = 85 gr.

Almonds (ground) – 1 cup = 3.7 oz. = 107 gr.

Walnuts (halves) – 1 cup = 3.5 oz. = 100 gr.

Walnuts (chopped) – 1 cup = 4 oz. = 114 gr.

Pumpkin Puree – 1 cup = 8.6 oz. = 245 gr.

 

and, approximately:

1 large Egg (yolk + white, no shell) = 1.7 oz. = 50 gr.

1 large Egg White = 1 oz. = 28.3 gr.

1 large Egg Yolk = 0.6 oz. = 17 gr.

 

GENERAL CONVERSIONS

 

1 oz. = 28.3 gr.

1 fl. oz. = 29.5 ml.

1 pint = 473 ml. (almost half a liter)
