My Flight to Freedom

Do you ever dream of flying? What are those dreams like? How does it feel? How does the flying happen?

Twelve years ago, on my way back from my very first trip to Hawai’i, I stopped in California to attend a life-changing workshop led by amazing author, teacher, speaker and overall magic woman Denise Linn taking place at her also magic Summerhill Ranch in the hills of central California.

While there I refreshed friendships with some other amazing women – amazing being the word-du-jour – and made some new ones. Among said amazing women was Yvette Neshi Lokotz, a tribal member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation raised in the traditions of Ho Chunk and Potawatomi since birth. Neshi is a woman of many talents and she chooses to express some of them by teaching about Native American hand drums, drumming, the medicine wheel lifestyle and space clearing. You can find out more about her through her website.

Together with Denise Iwaniw, Neshi is also the co-creator and founder of Star Nations Magazine, Star Nations Academy and Star Nations Radio Network. Yep, she is one of those: a Phenomenal Woman!

Star Nations Magazine is a monthly digital magazine that covers many fascinating spiritual topics, bringing together spiritual information about Indigenous people, specifically Native Americans, as well as information about Angels, Feng Shui, Spiritual Plarenting, and awakening to our spiritual path in life.

A couple of weeks ago she asked me if I would like to contribute a piece and an image for the July issue of Star Nations Magazine, with Freedom as the issue’s main topic. Freedom is subject very close to my heart, as well as my life pursuit, so I immediately said yes.
Above you can see the cover of the new issue, which was published today and covers: Independence, Freedom, July 4th, Bastille Day, Parents Day, Lughnasadh – Celtic Sun God, Spiritual Marketing, and Mediumship.

Flight-to-Freedom

My piece is titled “My Flight to Freedom” just like this blog post. It was a literal flight in the sense that it involved my getting on an airplane (several, actually), and also it went well with the image that had popped into my head to use (the one at the top of this post). It is a very personal piece because, well,  if it isn’t personal it is not interesting, is it? It was also my first time sharing a little bit of my personal journey, so it was a little daunting, even if in condensed version. After I had edited it for the tenth time and finally sent it off, I panicked and seriously considered canceling the whole thing. But I let it stand, so there it is.

If you would like to read it and also enjoy the rest of the issue, which I just downloaded and is really rich and plump with wonderful articles, Star Nations Magazine is available for purchase at the iTunes Newsstand and the Google Play Store at these links:

My favorite dreams are those of flying.
