LovePaperPlane is the Instagram art name of Malayan digital artist Kelly Tan. I only recently discovered Kelly’s amazing work, and the first image that I ever saw was the one of the little girl with the hat that you see above left. I was hooked! I started scrolling down her stream and I could not stop. Picking a few to show you through this post was a very difficult editing process.
Using just iPhone and/or iPad and a few Apps, Kelly combines raw photographs into gorgeous fantasy collages that are like images from a dream, or a fairy tale. She takes some of the photographs herself, using her DSLR or her iPhone, and sometimes asking her little girl to pose for an image. But most of the time she uses stock images from various sources.
Besides the native camera app, the other apps she uses are ProCam, Slow Shutter Cam, Superburst Camera, ArtStudio, Snapseen and PS Express.
When she gets an inspiration for an image, Kelly researches the stock database until she finds the starter images that suit what she is wanting to create. This is a rather time consuming process, and a creation from conception through to posting can take a few weeks. The blending and editing part takes about 3-4 hours depending on the complexity of the layers.
