Who wants to go to the beach?
Everyone does, including princesses! And this adorable Shiba Inu girl is definitely a Princess. Translated from Korean, her name means Autumn Princess.
As you can see, she can shake it like a pro!
I photographed Aki Hime at Kailua Beach on a very windy February afternoon. The late afternoon light at Kailua Beach is glorious, and the ocean turns brilliant shades of turquoise and light blues.
This part of the beach is one of Aki Hime’s favorite hang outs, as it is a little less crowded. She has her humans well trained to bring her here often and throw balls for her, so she can show off her catching abilities. The waves do not scare her!
For all of her regal name and posture, she is not afraid of getting wet and sandy. She will catch the ball, bring it back out of the waves, drop it, give a good shake off, and she is ready to go again!
Aki Hime was in line to be a calendar girl, though she did not make the cut. Rather unfair, I think, because she is a pretty princess, and that is one good shake-shake!
A little tip when photographing active dogs who are bound to run, and turn towards and away from the light in a split second. Set your camera to A (Aperture Priority), select the f stop that will get you the desired depth of field, then let the camera take care of the shutter speed. If you have to set everything manually every time there is a little change in light, you risk missing a lot of fun moments, looks and poses. And you never know when those are going go happen!
