Melting Moments cookies look deceivingly simple, yet are little bites of heaven. The name is a giveaway: 2 melt-in-your-mouth buttery vanilla cookies filled with that hazelnut-chocolate cream everyone loves.
They also need few ingredients and – as cookies go – don’t require a lot of work.
This perfected and curated recipe will guide you so you can achieve the best possible results.
About that Hazelnut-Chocolate Cream: the best known (and original) one is, of course, Nutella. It originated in Italy, produced by Ferrero, and we grew up with it, just like kids in the U.S. grow up with peanut butter.
Yet, Nutella and generally all Ferrero products, have now become part of a multi-national conglomerate, produced in humongous quantities and distributed world wide. To me it is no longer what it used to be, and I certainly don’t trust the sourcing and handling of ingredients – just like I don’t trust anything that is industrially produced on such a large scale.

Luckily, there are other, better quality and healthier options that don’t require us making it at home from scratch – though that is certainly possible.
If you happen to be in Italy, you can go to just about any main grocery store and pick up the one by Rigoni. It is called Nocciolata and – though also produced industrially (on a much smaller scale) it has better quality ingredients. I actually find it even here in California at my local grocery store. You can view and purchase it at this link if you like.
Otherwise, I also like this one.
In any case, in the recipe’s PDF you will find live links to special ingredients and equipment, just in case.
